Learners celebrate first library book borrowing

Learners from across Wallscourt Farm Academy have loved taking home books from the new school library for the very first time.

Around 170 books have already been borrowed, covering a wide range of topics and interests, reflecting learners’ curiosity and enthusiasm for reading.

Each class visits the library during its weekly library session, with trained pupil librarians from each year group supporting class teachers to check books in and out efficiently.

The new library system allows learners to independently choose books they are excited to read at home, helping to build confidence, responsibility, and a lifelong love of reading.

Staff are delighted with the positive response and look forward to seeing the books enjoyed by learners and their families, as reading for pleasure continues to be developed across the academy.

Jon Miller, Assistant Principal and Year 6 Teacher, said “It has been wonderful to see the excitement on learners’ faces as they choose their own books to take home.

“Our new library is already playing an important role in fostering a love of reading, and we are proud of our pupil librarians who are helping to make it such a success.”
