It was all smiles and calculations as Year 3 pupils at Wallscourt Farm Academy took part in their very first maths lesson of the year.

Pupils began developing their number skills through a series of fun and interactive numerical games, sparking excitement and friendly competition in the classroom. These activities are designed not only to build confidence but also to help pupils gain a deeper understanding of numeracy.

Reuben Boocock, Year 3 Class Teacher, Maths Lead, and Assistant Principal, said: “It’s fantastic to see pupils so engaged in maths right from the start of the year.

“By using games and collaboration, we’re helping children see that maths is not just about answers, but about problem-solving, creativity, and enjoying the challenge. This approach lays strong foundations for their future learning.”
