Wallscourt pupils explore “What is a Scientist?”

Pupils at Wallscourt Farm Academy this week began their exciting new enquiry, “What is a scientist?”

The learners have been discovering that scientists love to ask questions, make predictions, and carry out experiments to find out more about the world around them.

As part of their learning, pupils conducted experiments including mixing bicarbonate of soda with vinegar to observe a fizzy reaction, and another where they added warm water to a plate of Skittles to see the colours spread and mix.

These hands-on activities helped learners think like real scientists, testing ideas, making observations, and discussing what they discovered.

Ellie Todd class teacher at Wallscourt Farm Academy said: “Our pupils have really embraced their role as young scientists.

“They’ve shown incredible curiosity and enthusiasm, asking brilliant questions and making thoughtful predictions.

“It’s wonderful to see their excitement as they explore and learn through practical investigation.”
