Wallscourt stages digital awareness event for parents

Staff at Wallscourt Farm Academy were delighted to welcome families to a unique Papaya Workshop, an event designed to support parents in navigating the challenges of raising children in today’s digital world.

School staff were joined by Dr Lorna Hawley, who delivered an engaging and interactive session titled Helping Families to Thrive in a Digital Age.

Parenting has never been more complex, with concerns around screen time, social media, and gaming becoming part of everyday life.

Many parents worry about the impact of technology on their children’s health and wellbeing.

Dr Hawley unpacked these issues in a clear and non-judgemental way, offering practical strategies to help families find solutions that work for them. From understanding smartphone use to managing online habits, the workshop provided valuable insights and reassurance for parents seeking balance in a tech-driven world.

Helen Rea, Assistant Principal at Wallscourt Farm Academy, said: “Thank you to all the families who joined us and to Dr Hawley for sharing her expertise.

“Together, we are building stronger, healthier approaches to parenting in the digital age.”
